While visiting the Interiorzine website earlier this week, I came across an article featuring the hottest kitchen trends for 2018 and beyond. I’ve been feeling inspired ever since.
Of the lot (and there were a lot) the image featured above was my favourite kitchen of them all. This is how it looks from a different angle:

Full credit for both images featured in today’s blog post goes to Leicht Küchen.
There are many things I love about this kitchen. Just look at the cabinetry! Not often seen here in NZ, the cabinetry goes all the way to the ceiling, giving the whole kitchen a smart, contemporary look.
The second thing I noticed (and admired) is the fact that there’s no big rangehood to dominate the kitchen. Presumably the designers have opted for either a flush mounted ceiling extractor, or a new downdraft, which is part of the cooktop, instead of a traditional rangehood.
Finally, the matt finish rather than full gloss look, along with the dedicated greenery space, successfully creates the perfect balance of texture. Nothing in this kitchen is too much.
I have mentioned in the past that not all overseas trends work for NZ homes, and it is for this reason that I feel so inspired when I come across designs that would look great in Kiwi homes. In fact, studying Leicht Küchen’s kitchens reminded me of the new engineered stones I’ve seen that are hot on the market.
Laminex, a company that is a major supplier of kitchen and bathroom products, have recently released a number of new engineered stones that are right on trend. Suitable for kitchen or bathroom, Caesarstone stone tops would look amazing in many homes here in NZ. You can view Laminex’s full range here.
